How Does Baby Feet Casting Work?

Welcoming your new arrival into the fold will always be a tremendously exciting time, albeit

an incredibly busy and overwhelming one at the same time. But once you’ve settled into a

routine, you can start thinking about how you’d like to immortalise these precious

moments… and baby feet casting is a wonderful way to do just that.

Babies do grow very quickly and if you blink you’ll miss it, which is why so many new parents opt for casting so that they can look back in awe at just how tiny those toes actually once were.

And the good news is that it’s actually relatively quick and simple to get the casts made,

even if you do have a very wriggly baby on your hands.

You can opt for a 3D cast where a replica of your child’s foot is taken and cast in something

like bronze, sterling silver, glass or plaster, for example, or you can go for a 2D option where

their feet are pressed into clay and set that way.

A 3D sculpture of your baby’s feet involves using alginate, which is a soft setting solution

that won’t harm their beautifully soft skin. It only takes a couple of minutes for each mould to be cast, so there’s also no need to worry that your little one won’t stay still for long enough.

Once the cast has been carried out, it takes around eight weeks for the plasters to be ready,

although length of time for the order to arrive will depend on the type of finish you’ve

requested.
