Why Baby Casts Make Wonderful Christmas Presents

hello50236

A baby hand cast can make a wonderful present at any time of year, but with Christmas on the horizon, it could make the ideal gift for a loved one this year.

There is a special reason this should be so, as by definition a 2024 baby was not around to help celebrate last year, so they could be a favourite addition to a family gathering this time round. In such circumstances, a cast can be an extra treat, creating a memory of when the tot was little that can be treasured as they grow bigger each year.

Another reason this may constitute a great gift can arise from circumstances where some members of the family seldom or never get to see you or your baby.

For example, a thread on the Mumsnet website late last year highlighted the variation in parental contact. One poster said they lived “around the corner” from their parents and so meet up very regularly. Others met every month or two.

By contrast, there were instances in which they and their parents lived hundreds or even thousands of miles apart and seldom saw each other, while some situations were complicated by parents having broken up and not wanting to be in each others’ presence.

A consequence of rare contact is that as babies grow, their grandparents and other relatives may miss seeing much of their development. Moreover, distance may also preclude family meet-ups at Christmas, especially if the relatives live overseas.

In 2020, it was estimated that 5.5 million Britons lived overseas and while some figures (namely, EU residents) are no longer collated post-Brexit, there will still be millions of Britons overseas now, many of whom seldom if ever get to see their baby relatives.

Given such circumstances, permanent reminders of times when their grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or cousins were very small, immortalised in bronze, will be a particularly treasured gift.
